I used a popularly prescribed anti-depressant to help quit a nicotine addiction. I wasn't depressed, I was generally speaking a very happy and positive person. However, the drug gave me the most vivid and disturbing dreams. They weren't the classic nightmares, not even the old "Taking the test in your underwear" nightmare. Just vivid, surreal dreams that would interrupt my sleep. I found myself waking often from these dreams, and not getting enough sleep. Morning would come and I would not be rested. I would feel down, tired and well...depressed. It was an awful experience! I quit the drug and decided to stick with the nicotine, it kept me happy :). I'm glad to say that I've given up the nicotine as well. It's not easy to do it "cold turkey", but it worked.
